Jeannie Cho Lee is the first Asian Master of Wine (MW) and an award-winning author, television host, editor, wine critic, judge and educator.
Jeannie has been a professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) where she helped to launch the Master of Science (MSc) in International Wine Management program since 2012. She is also a Visiting Professor at the Chinese Culinary Institute and the International Culinary Institute. Jeannie co-hosts a weekly wine program In Vino Veritas, now in its third season on TVB Pearl, Hong Kong’s leading English language TV broadcaster.
She has been a Wine Consultant for Singapore Airlines since 2009 and is the former Publisher and CEO of Le Pan, a wine lifestyle publication she launched in 2015. Jeannie is currently a contributor for Forbes and a monthly columnist for Robb Report China. She is a sought-after speaker, traveling the world giving seminars and master classes on wine, food pairing and the quickly evolving Asian wine market.
Recognized for her contributions to the food and drinks industry, Jeannie was selected as one of the top 100 most influential people in Hong Kong by the South China Morning Post and Debrett’s in November 2015.
She was named the 25th most powerful personin wine by Decanter magazine (UK) and was listed among the top 60 most influential people in wine by La Revue du Vin (France) in 2015 and won the International Vinitaly Award (Italy) in 2009.
Jeannie’s pioneering book, Asian Palate, which explores wine and Asian food pairings, has won many awards, including the Gourmand Award for Best Food and Wine Pairing Book in the World in 2010. Her second book, Mastering Wine for the Asian Palate (2011), was also highly acclaimed. Both books are in their second reprint and are available in English, Korean and simplified Chinese.
As Business Director, Anita manages the business and financial aspects of Asian Palate. Prior to joining Asian Palate, Anita was the Circulation Director of Le Pan, a fine wine lifestyle magazine, where she was in charge of global distribution and circulation. Prior to Le Pan, she was Head of Asia Pacific Circulation for Bloomberg Businessweek and also worked for Star TV, NBC Asia, MGM Gold Asia and Turner Broadcasting.
Roberto Gallotto is Asian Palate‘s Training Manager, responsible for on-the-ground training for sommeliers and F&B staff. He has more than 30 years of hospitality industry experience including being the chief sommelier of Don Alfonso, The Kitchen and The Eight, responsible for over 16,000 wines on the list. Don Alfonso is only one of three restaurants in greater China that has been awarded the prestigious 3-glass Grand Award by Wine Spectator.
Rene’s is Asian Palate’s design director, in charge of all design aspects from the company’s website and communications material to business cards and invitations. Rene has more than 15 years of experience handling and leading design projects ranging from branding, digital and print. He has worked with companies such as Nike, Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Honda, Castrol, PCCW-HKT and Noble Group.
Dennis is the IT guru at Asian Palate and has been managing its website as well as its growing tasting note database since 2013. Dennis was also the IT Manager of Le Pan, a wine lifestyle magazine, responsible for all aspects of the website, including coordination with web designers and programmers. Most importantly, Dennis is passionate about wine and hold the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines.
Deborah is passionate about wine and received a Master of Science degree in International Wine Management from Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s School of Hotel and Tourism Management. She assists in managing Asian Palate’s events, educational programs and communications. She is currently a WSET Diploma candidate and has worked at Asian Palate since early 2016.
